New! Photo tab

We have added a page for photos from some of our projects to give you an idea what our embroidery looks like in person! As you can see, we have done a variety of projects, in a variety of colors and designs.
More to come!

New Order Form

For those who would like to submit an item for embroidery, we have a new order form!
This new form can be found under the tab "Order Form." (Some specialty fonts display better here.)
While it asks a lot of information, it greatly simplifies the details involved in completing your project correctly.
Also, we have added a "Fonts" tab, so you can better visualize the lettering when making a selection for your project on the order form.
If you download or copy the order form to your computer, you can either complete it and email it back, or print it and turn it in personally with your item(s). Please feel free to email us with any questions or difficulties you have with this new form, and we will do our best to streamline the process for you!
Thank you

Tyrian Purple

Colored textiles date back to very ancient times. One particularly interesting era is that of Tyrian purple. In the Bronze Age, the Phoenicians became famous for their coveted purple dye (including the production techniques). The purple color was extracted from murex shellfish, and it reportedly took around 10,000 shellfish to yield only a gram of dye! Mounds of shells have been found in or near the ancient cities Tyre, Sidon, and others. The beautiful, deep purple was therefore very costly and reserved only for royalty or the very rich. The Phoenicians had perfected their processes so that Tyrian purple was known for resisting fading and outdid the "cheaper" purples on many levels.
Check out the Ancient History article link included for more amazing details on the history of purple.

History of Embroidery

The art of embellishing our clothing and home-goods
Ancient Persian embroidery (indusexportsindia.com)
has been developing for literally thousands of years. The methods and materials vary by culture throughout the world, but the feeling of wealth and enrichment seem to prevail. Some people used shells, pearls, or beads; some people used wool, silk, or cotton; some even used narrow ribbon and elaborate series of stitches and knots to create beautiful designs. Enter the modern age and we are doing everything digital- including embroidery!
Check out this interesting article for more historical details.
